I'm having the same problem on a M670. Out of the shaft and also on the Tel-O-Flo parts. Would this be the same principle as the M-602?
Thanks

Kelvin is likely right on. Had same trouble with my M5. I thought the shaft was worn out and almost made the mistake of having a new one made before I spoke to some wizards who told me about those seals on the steering cylinder. Repaired that and problem was solved.

I had a leak similar to that on my '62 Jetstar. Wendell Everett told me that probably the seals were gone on the steering cylinder. This spring, (about 5 years later) I finally got around to replacing those seals and sure'nuff, it seemed to stop that leak, although I haven't driven it much since.
I think what happens is the cylinder seals leak and the oil reservoir around the sector gear fills. It can only drain around the steering shaft. Actually I think the sector gear housing should only have 90 wt. oil in it.

Fixed leak around steering shaft, there was a groove cut around the shaft where an o ring goes, built the shaft back, turned in back down, put in new o ring. I put in regular hyd oil, im not sure if this is correct, someone tould me they thought i should use Ford trans fluid???? Thanks for the help. Mike

Galen, is the M5 steering housing the same as the 5 Star? I am in need of one. Also where are you located at?
