Ihave a R that needs brakes I guess, they push hard and do not stop well. I need to maybe clean or replace liners, how much of a job is it. it looks quite a job to me. thanks

I'd hoped someone who knew more would reply. Its been a few years, but basically you have to disconnect the linkage to the brakes, and pull the axles. I think you also have to drain the transmission, especially if you are going to replace the axle seals. You probably should replace them, because if they leak, they could be one source of your poor braking. The axle seal is in a cover bolted in the transmission housing, inside the axle housing. There is a drain hole in this housing, and it should be open and pointed down. its supposed to catch any grease that comes through the seal and run it away from the discs.
There are a few differences between the early and late style brakes, but this will get you started.
