I am restoring a 1950 RTE. I have found pistons with a 60 over bore. Would this much bore cause any problems such as overheating? Thanks.

Well, my ZTU is overbored .180" & no problems whatsoever. My cylinders were rusted so bad that .060' would not clean them up. I believe they were .060 Jet Star pistons. I bought them from a MM tractor outfit in Missouri.

I've got a couple of engines with the 60 overbore, 1 with RE blocks and the other with 10A blocks, the problem is boring thru the block into the water passage, not with overheating because of the overbore.

what size overbores are out there for the R and Z. I just took my wife's R apart, it was stuck doesn't look real good. Need to have an idea if I can salvage 1 set of jugs the other set is cracked

Are they cracked in the cylinders? A lot of hairline cracks in the outside can be repaired. I've even got an R thats been repaired inside the rocker arm area.

I'm not sure where it's cracked at. I'll have to get the pistons out and clean it up to find out
