About a year or so ago, while disking up a small hill with my 1969 M670 Super, it started to spit and sputter, eventually died under the load. At that time, I posted a question about why it would do this. Was told that it was probably plugged fuel filter, gas line, or gas tank. I pulled everything apart, wasted alot of gas, and cleaned everything out. I also adjusted the carburator at that time. Everything has been fairly good with the tractor since, but not perfect. Tonight, I was out baling hay for the first time with this tractor. While pulling up the same SMALL hill as before, the tractor began to spit and sputter, eventually died. Can anyone tell me if I need to pull all the gas components off again, or is this more likely a carburation problem? I am so frustrated with this. It only happens while pulling a load (higher RPMs and PTO this time). Please help!

JKC, assuming you have eliminated the possibility of an electrical problem and I'm referring to the coil, fuel supply is likely the problem. If you have figured out that fuel delivery is the problem, then get the machine to die again. This time be prepared to instantly dismount and go to the drain in the carburator. Loosen the drain or remove it and check to see what comes out. If the problem is fuel delivery, very little fuel will come out and any stream will be weak. Then start working backwards. Remove the line at the carb, see what comes out there, remove the line at the sediment bowl, see what comes out there. If you're not getting fuel out of the tank, find out why. I have done this several times with several machines. Problems were either a piece of crap floating around in the tank until it gets lucky enough to cover the exit, a fuel cap that doesn't vent, and of course, simply out of gas. Keep me posted on what you find; we'll get to the bottom of this.

We work on lots of spark plug tractors here and run into this problem quite often. Drain the tank, look into it with a small flashlight, clean the carb, pay very close attention to the needle and seat(new is not always better), throw away the points, etc., and install an elec. ign.system, a new inline gas filter and a stand pipe in the sediment bowl assy after it is thoroughly cleaned and inspected. We seldom have a problem after ALL this is done. You will have questions so call 920 295 3278 or email [email protected]. Dale

How do I get an Electric Ignition system to replace the points system on my M670 super LPG.
