UB long axle

Found a UB with a very wide rear axle, they must stick out 4 feet on each side. It is also diesel. We are trying to buy it from someone but am affraid to get stuck with something that I dont know exactly what is worth. It is complete and straight but is locked up. Are the long axles harder to find or are they common, I have not seen one yet around here except for this one. What should we offer? Also found a massey 97 diesel but dont know what it is worth either.

I only can tell you that UTU's could be had with an extra long axle on one side. Its been years since I saw that, but I think it was for harvesting some particular crop. Beans, perhaps?

From what I've been told, MM did make some specials. One old gentleman told me he had a ZB with mounted picker. It was regularly breaking axles, Wheels reversed and hubs at the very end of the axle. The dealer rep. had MM make some special axles and those never broke.
