Moline, White and Oliver related??

I saw a Minneapolis Moline in the photo gallery that said White on the front grill. Have also seen Oliver and Moline wording used discussing the same tractor. What is the relationship between the 3 names?? Were there mergers or buyouts that brought them together?? Is it like the one between McCormick, Farmall and Int'l Harvester??? I'm new to tractors and trying to get a handle.--Novice

White Motor Co. decided in the mid 50s to get
more involved in the ag business. They started
buying out ag companies and got their first real
tractor by buying the Canadian Cockshutt Co. in
1962. Next Oliver was purchased followed by MM.
Money was saved by combining research and selling
the same tractors with slight sheet metal and
paint color changes under different names. Most
all Cockshutt and MM plants were closed and non
imported tractors were assembled in Oliver plants.
The White name started to be used in combo with
the others and soon was the only name on used and
the paint color became silver. The White name is
now gone in favor of the parent company AGCO.

Thanks for the clarification. Are there some interchangability of parts from MM to Oliver machines for late MM production MM G1000 and so on? It seems some of the Olivers have similar sheet metal and possibly even hardware.

miss a few and there might be a mistake but it's
what I think is right.

Jet Star 3 = Cockshutt 1350
MM G350 = Oliver 1265 = White 1270
MM G450 = Oliver 1365 = White 1370

Oliver = MM
1555 = G550
1655 = G750
1755 = G850
1855 = G940
1865 = G950
2055 = G1050
2155 = G1350
2455 = A4T-1400
2655 = A4T-1600

MM G955 = White 1870 = Oliver 955
MM G1355 = White 2270 = Oliver 1355

The G450, etc is also the same as a 5050 AC

I have often wondered why AGCO doesn't resurrect the Oliver or MM name. They could at least badge the AGCO line as Allis Chalmers. What do you guys think. Old familiar names are marketing gold.

Your very right. It sure would be nice to see MM resurrected like some of the older names. I really wonder what the tractors would be like today? What size the engines would be, Turboed and intercooled? It sure is a shame that 120 years of history is thrown on the junk pile. A new yellow tractor in the field would sure look nice today? ( not A challenger )

The cost for the AC name would stop the use of it. George Steinbrenner owns the rights to Allis Chalmers and I heard he asked Agco 10million per letter for the name. Don't know for sure but I would not pay for the name either.
