I have a M-M Grader powered by a four cyclinder gas engine. It has a 12 foot blade operated by hydraulics, including side-shift. It runs well and I'm using it to grade my driveway. I don't find the model number (4 1/4x5 283 4A) listed. Where might I find more information?

What you describe was probably made by the American Grader Co. of Omaha, Ne. sometime between 1950 - 52. I have one with serial # 03900095 also known as an American 900. It is a MM UTSG with a 283 engine.

Hi Sam,

Look along the right side of the transmission housing, just under the opperators platform. There might also be a tag along the left side of the grader frame about in the halfway point of the tractor. I have a UG made by American Grader company using a MM U as the power unit. They made only 125 of these units. If you need more info just ask.

I'm not a MM expert, but I would suspect the grader was built by someone else, using the MM engine and rear end. I used to have an old Gallion blade with a Hart Parr tractor as the power unit, and they, or other companies may have used MM's. Check the main beams that arch up over the grader blade. Often, there is a nameplate in this area.

The number you posted is the engine model number, not the model number of the machine. This engine was used in the U series tractors.
