This is the first time I have ever asked a question here? I just bought a Big Mo 400 military tractor. I haven't got it yet though and it is locked up. My question is when I go to painting it should I paint it Prairie Gold or go with the kelley green or the air force blue. What do you think?

This really your first post here MUSH?? Howdy! I like the Green on the military's I've seen. Blue? never saw one of those. Like others said, it's YOUR tractor, paint it what you like. My vote for the green tho! Maybe Camoflouge, Heh!

What is it now? Can you tell what it was originally? I would go with original. I have a military R and it appears to have been industrial yellow. Little hard to totally tell under all the broom paint jobs tho. Jack

How much are you care about authenticity. It would be cool to see it in its former glory painted in military colors. On the other hand if I can score a MTA one of these days I painting it praie gold.

Kevin,

I'm not sure there is a right answer to this question. From what I have heard from several older collectors, the color of the military tractors was a by-product of the base commanders personal preference. Some commaders in th AF insited on the blue while others liked the PG. I have heard of at least one base that changed commanders that required a new paint job for the tractors. So I guess as if you want to be acurate in your resto as you tear it down scrape throught the paint carefully and try to determine what color it might have been.....or just paint it the way YOU like it because it is YOUR tractor.

Have fun with it.

Joe
