Does anyone know if ZA and ZB blocks are interchangable? The part numbers are different but they measure the same. What was the difference in engines?

The R "EE"- Z "RE"- ZA "206"- ZB "206" ALL use the SAME cylinders, the ZB just had a different "newer" casting number. I don't know what the exact differences in the 2 engines is. They both have the 5" stroke & 3 5/8ths" bore.

I believe the difference was in the length of the valve guides. The ZA had longer valve guides and buildup could cause the valves to stick part way open. The ZB guides were shorter and this helped to correct the problem. My father had a 51 ZA and I rember the dealer told him to cut off some of the valve guide. After that he never had any more problem with sticking valves.
