UTU Serial Number, Etc...

Bought a UTU Minnie today and can't figure out the year by the serial number. it reads as follows: UTU 336754U. It just dont match any of the lists I've seen. I'm new to Minnie Mo so I'll leave it to the experts. Also any helpfull hints would be apprecated. For instance, it's in good shape, should I have paid $900 for it?

Matt - I bought a UTU just last week - it's S/N is 336698U. Would appear our UTU's came off the line almost together!

Bought my UTU from a nephew of the original owner - he told me he thought it was a '47. Then yesterday as I was cleaning off the outside of the carburetor I uncovered a brass tag with the Marvel-Schebler model number (TSX67) and what appears to be a date stamp marked "10 47". Pretty much confirms it is a late '47. Suggest you check the tag on yours.

I grew up with Farmalls and Olivers. This is my first experience with an MM. Already had a chance to do some light work with my UTU - it's a neat old machine!!

Matt, Your UTU is a late 1947 model. It should have the 283A-4 engine which has 2 pair of cylinders and 2 heads. 1938 to early 1947 U models had a monoblock engine with one cylinder head for all 4 cylinders. $900 sounds like a fair price if it runs good, the sheet metal is straight and the tires are decent. The UTU was one of the most popular MM tractors. Welcome to the wonderful world of Molines.
