I have just replaced the entire ignition system. Tractor still has a miss in it at low RPM. Sounds like it goes away at high RPM. Also blows back through the carb sometimes during cranking. Only blows back if you let off of it at a certain time. Any suggestions? Thanks

First, are you sure the weights in the distributor haven't froze or came apart? I would check valves also. Usually there is still a problem with missing even at higher RPM's with a tight valve. You didn't mention if you did anything with the carb.

I had a U doing about what you describe. It had a bad valve seat.

Set the throttle to the speed where the miss is most noticeable and start pulling plug wires. The one that doesn't cause a drop in RPM will be the cylinder.

i would look at my compression then my valve train and springs and yes timming the compression will only tell you if the problem is inside the cylinder but will not help on the valve train parts
