I was told by Phil Munson to try and contact Ron Perry to find out who pulled a hot rod 4 star a few years ago. Ron, are you out there? I have a Jet Star and am interested in playing with it a little. What was this 4 star? Named "Effy" I think. Also pulled "Sally Junk" maybe? Anyone know? 517-726-0484

Effie was owned and operated by Dave Smith out of Indiana during the same era as when Ron Perry/Dave Stangle were running Solid Junk. Dave Smith later ran a single turbo 705 called Effie II ( I beleive). Sorry I can not tell you how to get in touch with Dave Smith or Ron Perry. Effie was the only 445/4 Star/Jet Star I can ever remeber seeing at a NTPA event in the '70s. He was surprizing competative when he got the balance right and everyone else was pointing their nose straight up to the sky in the 5,000# weight class.

There is a picture of Effie on the 2001 Welters calendar. I am under the impression that it is their tractor. 417 498 6496 is their phone. Verona Missouri southwest of Springfield, very good parts source. Solid Junk was the name of a tractor that lived in Indiana I think. Hawk was the guys name, it was in the PGR magazine awhile back.

I have a brother named Ron and last year saw a news paragraph in some tractor paper about Ron Perry and puller tractors. SO, I know there is such a fella. I had to tell my Bro about it. Seems like he was from IN or maybe OH area? Go to the MM home site and ask. Several pullers on that site. www.minneapolis-Moline.com should work. Go to forums there. I think the fella "Hawk" passed away or was in a car wreck last year, he and his wife were killed. They were from IN. Praire Gold link on the MM site also.

Yes, there is a Ron Perry from Indiana, Rochester I believe. Yes Mr. Hawk passed away in a car accident a couple of years ago. He was in Leiters Ford, IN. His son Randy is still running the shop. "Solid Junk" was a joint venture I beleive between Ron P. and Dave Stangle, also from Indiana.

Ethan'

Sorry I wasn't more clear. Ron Perry, of Flora Indiana and Dave Stangle were together on solid junk, a G-1000. The late Bob Hawk ran a five star and oliver 88, along with a fellow by the name of Al Isch(?). Hope some of the other posts get you to Effie. Good Luck.
