They made 6244 JTU's. This is the narrow front end. If you have found a JTS (469 made) or a JTO (156 made) then you've got a much better find. The J's came with a Wakashua motor in them. These are an "F" head engine. The Intake is in the head and the EX is in the block. MM made an upgrade kit for this tractor. For a few dollars more from a rebuild you could install a crate RE motor. This was a power boost and alot of tractors had this done. The original motor has the manifold on the side, the upgrade with the RE motor has the manifold on the top of the motor. With all that said, an orginal is worth alot more. Also depends what you have for tires, steel is worth more, but harder to move.
Parts for the RE motor are easy to come by, parts for the orginal motor are harder to find, and the manifolds are usally rotten.
Price also depends on where you are. I'm from Southern Iowa origianly and J's are not to hard to find. Was @ Rollag Mn Labor Day weekend and the JTS's out numbered the JTU's.
