UTU Restoration Questions

I am restoring a '47 UTU and have the following questions.

1 - What is the thickness of the 2 fabric shims, under the cover with the axel seals in it. Also is there a reason you shouldn't make them out of steel shim stock?

2 - What is the thickness of the brake shoe material. Are these still available, like through AGCO, or does everyone just order the material and rivet them themselves?

3 - If I remove the mechanical cultivator lift, will I need to replace it with a different cover?

4 - How thick is the piece of metal under the radiator and grill supposed to be?

5 - Where could I obtain a wiring diagram?

Thats it for now, I am sure I will have a lot more in the near future. Thanks in advance.

I'm working on a UB and the metal under the radiator and grill measures .065 metal including paint. Guessing it should be 1/16".Dale

#1. If you're talking about the cast cover at the end of the axle housing that has the seal in it, there should only be steel shims between it and the housing.

#2. Brake shoe lining should be available from AGCO or from some of the parts suppliers listed at jetstar.minneapolis-moline.com.

#3. you will have to cover the hole when you remove the mechanical lift, fluid will leak out. MM offered a cover, or if you prefer, you can probaly find a pto that will mount there.

#4. I think the steering gear cover is 1/8".

#5. Motec engineering should have wiring diagrams.

Congratulations on purchasing one of the "World's Finest Tractors"!
