Are the narrow fronts all interchangeable from a UB Special to the 670's? Will the hubs interchange from the narrow to wide fronts? Where do you advertise on the computer if you want to buy a narrow front? I'm new to the computer and not sure if I'm doing this right. Thanks for any help. Jason

Yes, to my knowledge Jet Star, 4 star, 5 star 335, 445, M5, M602, M670 all had the similar narrow front assembly with the dove tail groove. I have a single wheel piece going on my Jet Star. As for changing hubs..... not sure Jason. Put a wanted ad right at this website and some folks have lots of parts they will sell. I'm sure you can find one.

I have a "U" narrow front off a 445, but it's not a quick change front end, it's a casting like the Zs, so don't know if the 335, 445 had the interchangable frontend like the earlier models.

The Jet Star, 335 Utility, and 445 Utility, were not built to take the narrow fronts. The UB Special, 445 Universal, 335 Universal, 4 Star, 5 Star, M-5, 602, 670, G900, G1000, G1050, would all take the same narrow front.

Yes, I could be mistaken on some of the 335/445 models. My Jet Star front axle comes off and unbolt the steering pivot piece under the front end and bolt in the dove-tail slot pivot in it's place. There were two wide front types on the 4 star and similar models (not counting the heavy I beam axle). One used the dove tail slot and one didn't according to my parts book. I am not aware of all the variations of the front ends, but I am glad to get everyone's input. It is nice how MM made much of it's product line interchangable. One MM pulling advantage.

Is your Jet Star a super? All regular Jets I've seen didn't come with the tapered slot to carry the narrow front only had the pivot arm that the steering rods fastened to. Is all of this factory on your Jet?

My Jet Star is an old brown 1960 model. It has the factory pivot arm on it and adjustable axle. The bearing assembly that holds the pivot arm can be removed and the assembly with the slotted piece installed. I got one of a M5 or 5star or something and a single front wheel fork to slide in it. There was an adjustable tube axle that used a piece in that slot pivot to steer, but may have been just the 4star or 4star super. It shows one in the MM parts book. I am lightening this machine up a bit for fun. I removed the cushioned seat and added the old pan style found on 1959 stipped down Jet Stars. I am in the process of removing the hydraulics completely. A single front wheel will be installed and I might switch the differential off for a 335 rear end. I know there were Jet Stars with no Ampli-Torque, but I am not sure how they were set up. I might remove that too. Hoping some day to build a brown Jet Star puller out of it for 3500 or maybe 3000 pound class with a U302 motor. We'll see. It would be different, that's for sure. We also have a nice working 1963 Jet Star II with a loader. Handy and real nice machine. Well, hope this explains some details to ya. You can call me crazy. My model R puller project is even more nuts. I draw a line for some because some tractors are just too nice a show tractor to strip down for pulling.

My '62 jet weighs 4200#, stock. You might get down to 3500, but I don't think you can make 3,000, and still have it look stock.

Now if you want to brainstorm about a puller-How about a U302 engine in an R? Stock 50+ hp @ around probably 3200-3400 lbs with original platform, drawbar and fenders. Well, Just a thought.

I have an R with about a 50-60 hp Z engine. I have thought about a U302 many times. The R is another mixed up project with about 5 different tractors in it. 39R TANK, 48R PARTS, 52RFENDERS, SINGLE FRONT WHEEL, ZTU EXHAUST MANIFOLD, ZA ENGINE, ZA LP GAS MANIFOLD AND HEADS, RTI TRANNY. Yeah, pretty goofy. Oh, working on an M5 governor too for it. Ha ha. It is a piece all right.
