What causes these engines to slober oil out the seams of the exuast manifold? Thanks T-D

The 585 is victim of the MAN system. A foreign purchased injection system. It was the cheap by when the tractors were built. It blows.

It's obvious you don't know what you're talking about. The direct injection diesel if anything is a little cold natured, but is a very smooth and powerful engine. MM never made injector pumps, but not many tractor manufacturers ever did. If the engine is blowing oil, it probably needs at the least a ring job, but more likely a rebuild - bore with new pistons (give the pistons slightly more clearance than the book says). The 585 is a very good engine if it's built right and maintained properly. Find an external oil pump if it doesn't already have one. The motor is a horse!
