I came across a model L uni tractor that is complete but stuck and was wondering if these are in demand for restoring and if so what price range do they run.Thank you!

Greg: I have 2 uni's. One is the 46th one made and it is in very good condition. It has always been shedded. The other is a 54 model. Both have corn pickers mounted on them. I gave $250.00 for each one. I agree that they are hard to transport, but they would be an eye catcher at any antique show. If you can buy it right, go for it. Mike

They share many engine components with other MM tractors. Early ones used the same blocks as MM Z's and later ones used the same blocks and heads as MM 445's. I think the pistons were same as on the tractors, also. Also, the carburetor is same as a MM Z,ZA, or ZB, so even if not restorable, A Uni model L would be worth something as parts. The gas tank is same as on MM R, the seat was used on a number of MM tractors-R,Z,U,G.

There doesn't seem to be a big demand because of the difficulty in hauling to shows (width). It would be great to save some of them- I've only seen one in many years of going to "moline-intensive" shows.
