Hi Geneva Beck-you really do need to be more specific. Are you talking the old cross-motor ones or the grey Twin City Molines or the Prairie Gold MM's of the late 30's, 40's and 50's? Jack

Do you mean the big ones that look like steam tractors, with giant steel wheels, a cross motor, and a big round "radiator"? If so they were built by Minneapolis Steel & Machinery Company 1902 to 1929. the first ones just said Minneapolis on the side and later had a "T" superimposed over a "C" on the side of the "radiator" which stood for Twin City. I have some pictures of one some place, I will find them if this is what you are looking for. I seem to recall they were mostly bright red and silver with some yellow.

Are you asking about the pre-merger tractors? The ones I'm thinking of have croswise mount engines and said "The Minneapolis" on the radiator. I'm pretty sure they were grey. I've seen some restored with green wheels. I'll bet there are examples with grey wheels and probably some with red wheels.

You are probably referring to a 17-30 Minneapolis in which it says The Minneapolis on the radiator. They are probably the most common Minneapolis left out there, they made a type A and a type B. Most of the 17-30's I have seen have been type B's. The motor sat in them sideways, they have an oiler, a long fan shaft, grey with green fenders and yellow pin striping. I don't think there is a complete serial number listing out there for these tractors. I think there was an article about them in the Praire Gold rush some time ago, like in the 1980's.
