need help? recently purchased this tractor and the governor does not appear to work right.
through some investigation i think maybe it has the wrong carb. which is contributing. the carb #
is a M.S. 838 the trouble, looking from the side
of the tractor the throttle plate has to rotate cw
to come off idle and go to full throttle.all the photo's i find in a book would suggest it should go ccw so the governor rod can go up to increase
rpm's. right now the governor rod is hooked to the back(rear towards seat) of the carb so it can operate . (the carb has an adjustable lever arm on it). question? was does a correct setup look like so i can decide how to fix mine.

Jeff, I can't speak for 602's but U have the butterfly linkage on the block side of the carburator. And work as you describe. My guess would be your linkage between the carb. and governor is too long or short. Probably to long. The rod has to be about .5" too short when the throttle board is in idle position. The lifts the flyweights of zero. Later,

i guess my explantation is misleading.
the problem i think is the throttle plate
trying to rotate backwards from normal.
when viewing the tractor from carb side.
should the butterfly (throttle ) rotate cw or
ccw to increase rpm's. the carb i have goes cw
to increase and i think it maybe wrong?
