Any ideas on getting a stuck Z loose. Its been sitting for about 12 years in a corn crib.

pull the spark plugs and put desil& john deere lube mixed let it set for 2 or 3 day then try to pull it it should work

If you pull it make sure all or the valves are free. IF there is a stuck one it could gouge a cam lobe or bend a rocker arm.

I bought a ZA a month ago that had been stuck for 9 years I was told when I got it. I pulled the plugs and put in some wd-40 on the pistons. Then I put a fitting in the lower radiator outlet to hook a heater to hose to and took the fitting out where the temp sender goes and put a heater hose fitting there to. Then I hooked my heater hoses from my pickup to the tractor to circulate water through the tractor to warm the motor up. I let my pickup run for about 1 hour and you could not hardly lay your hand on the engine it was so warm. Then we pulled it about 10 feet and it broke loose. It worked for me I hope it works for you! If it doesn't try Andy's method!! Good Luck, Steve

If the valves are sealing & the head is on, you can put you penetrant of choice in, make a air hose adaptor for the spark plug hole, pressurize the cylinder with air, & leave it on for a time. This will force the penetrant down through the sides of the piston. Another way is to fill the cylinder with grease ( I would try water first since it doesn't compress either) & hook a grease gun up to the spark plug hole. A grease gun will build up tremendous pressure. Watch that you don't bust a skirt. My ZTU was froze so bad that I had to bust the pistons out & rebore. As far as a penetrant, I've heard of using everything from Coke (which works in the right places) to KY gel (well, maybe not).

I have two 1941 ztu's and we use diesle fuel but clr will work also but you have to drain it out after a while because it will eat your pistions
