Does any one have a part number for the rear main seal in the engine on a 50 ZAU? On the front rims one has 2 round holes in the center and the other has 4 square holes. Which one is right? The lights are the 6" ones. Would they be right? Did many ZA's have the live power clutch on them. This one does. Can you still get a rebuit clutch & pressure plate for them? This one is grabby from the rear seal leaking. Would I be correct in thinking that the 50 ZA has the 6" lights;my 49 RTU has 7"rounded lenses and my 48 UTU should have the 7" flat lenses? All I can think of for now! THANKS STEVE

First of all I would use the square holed rims on the ZA(someplace on the bolt side there should be the letter "L") As for the lights, I believe most all of the lights MM used were made by "Guide". As far as I know MM used the large flat lens(some had curved lenses) lights from '37-38 models up until mid to late 1950, then they used a slightly smaller reflector type (6") through '52 until the ZB UB GB's came out ('53) which used the sealed beam units. The rear lights on the MM's were the same as the fronts until later in 1950 when they changed to the smaller(6") ones. The rear lights on the models also used the same size as the fronts but were a comb. flood / tail, same as the ZB UB GB's --- ZAU ser.# 00604140 still used the 7" anything after used the 6". They also changed a couple other things about that time: flote ride seat, taller brake pedals, throttle lever linkage placement(outside of lever). Something else to check for a grabby clutch is the keyway on the cross shaft where the rod connects to it(by battery). That happened on my dad's. Hope this helps.

Wheels-- One of the best resources that I used was old pictures in books. This helped tremendously on the placement of the decals on my '47. I had seen ZTU's with the incorrect decals plastered from front to back. I may be mistaken, but I think some other makes used this type of wheel also. The photo archives on this site is a good resouce..

Just a suggestion, I'd stick with the 6" lights. They're probably correct.
I don't know when MM began factory installing the live pto clutch. I do know it was offered as a retrofit to ZA's that didn't have it. If your ZA has a drum brake on the right side, it was probably a retrofit. For all I know, it probably could have been installed on ZT's too.
If your clutch is grabbing, it might simply be worn out. There's not a direct path for leaking oil to flow to the clutch plate. At any rate, I think you could find linings at the parts supplier page at jetstar.minneapolis-moline.com.
Wheels: I think MM used 2 different wheels on ZA's. One had a smaller bolt pattern and the center hole was smaller, like was used on ZT's. I wonder if this is the case on yours?

Thanks Kelvin for the info. Onthe rims it is not the center hole. Its the holes where the weights bolt on. one has 4 square holes.Like for carriage bolts. And the other has 2 oval shaped holes. Thanks Steve

Rear main seal- Agco 10A21466 or National 475195R. This is a rubber seal, not felt. Some say they aren't as tight as a felt one, but mine holds just fine. If you're wondering, the front crank seal is Agco 11A1405. This is rubber also. When I restored my ZTU, I replaced all felt with rubber lip seals.
