I recently bought a 1950 UTU that had been sitting for quite awhile. After getting it home and running it smokes alot out of the little breather caps on the valve covers. Anyone know what causes this. It runs great and holds good oil pressure. Thanks

Basically you have one of two problems, either "A" the engines flat wore out and the stuff coming out of your breathers is "Blow by"past the rings due to just being worn. Or "B" it could be a bad case of stuck piston rings the best thing to do is to do a compression check cold and hot. Then go from there as well look at the plugs if there all gooked up then the deposits your looking at on the plugs is burnt oil due to the blow by. When you pull compression it should be at least 100 lbs if the engine is in any shape at all. Worst case senario just pull the heads and re ring the engine its not expensive relitivly speaking you could probly do it for around 150 - 200 dolars if you do the work your self. Any questions feel free to e- mail. Where are you located? Good luck Turbine Dude
