MF 35 had a Ampmeter or not?

Does anybody know whether the Coventry build MF-35's had a ampmeter as my tractor does not have one at the moment and I can not tell whether my battery is being charged or not. There is a red light which comes on immediately when I turn the ignition switch to "contact" and keeps on burning until I switch the tractor off again. Furthermore the engine stops when I disconnect the battery while running. Is this normal (I would expect it would keep on running on its own generator)

How can I tell whether the generator and the voltage regulator are working properly?

thanks in advance

Vroei.

The ammeter was standard only on the diesels, so if yours is a gasguzzler, it came without an ammeter. Even the temp gauge was extra on gas 35's
The Special (dual clutch) had a temp gauge and a tractormeter, but no ammeter.
The only instrument being standard on all types was the oil pressure gauge.
This goes for the FE-35 and the Coventry MF-35's.

My 35 has an ampmeter. The tractor is a 1965 model. I do not have a red light though.

My FE-35 has an ammeter (although it does not work).

Do a search on voltage regulator or control box or similar there have been many responses to your query as to how can you tell.

I followed a procedure which told me that by voltage regulator was basically stuffed, ie. it kicked in too late and was over charging my battery. Since my battery would not start the tractor, I purchased a new one. While I was doing all that I had put the battery on a charger. I am still using the old battery after 3 months.

I do not have a light.

My tractor (diesel) stops when the battery is disconnected.
