A few years ago I had some work done on my 50 Hyd. pump. The dealer (Massey Ferguson) told me that a kit was not available for this pump and if it ever needed an overhaul, well...you couldn't get parts. The tractor works fine but in light of this I am considering selling it. Any info. on what I can do if the pump goes south would be greatly appreciated. It's a great tractor. P.S. It's gas with the 134 engine.

Travis a kit is available from Southeast Tractor Parts or TISCO. These come with new pistons, brass blocks, and valve chambers with the valves and springs already installed eliminating the need to have the valve seats recut which requires a special tool from Massey. This kit usually sells for around 250.00. You can get this kit and replace the bearings and the relief valve and install a new control valve which are also available from these companies and have a practially new pump for about 425.00 to 450.00 and this should give years of reliable service. Also you should use MF spec. 1103 hyd. oil as these pumps unless in tip top shape do not do as good with Permatran(1129-A) which is a thinner oil. The new Massey oil Permatran III (1141) is a little thicker and maybe could be subsituted.
