Been moving hay with my 2775. Last couple days the PS has been sticky about shifting into low. Sometimes works right away and sometimes a slight delay. Works good after it shifts and no problems shifting into int and high gears. Light comes on when I move lever into low and stays on until actual shift happens. Sometimes 5-10 second delay. Also when loading or unloading stack of bales with PTO engaged at idle the PTO sometimes stalls. Give engine a little more throttle and it is OK. Don't think PTO light works, never see it come on. Trans pressure light usually on below 1000 rpm but not since these quirks started couple days ago. I need to see if bulb is burned out. Do I have a hydraulic problem developing here in PTO and/or PS? Oil level is OK and looks clean. Have new set of hyd/trans filters to put in and haven't done it yet. Filters might be problem? TIA for any advice. John

Hi John,
Im a Massey freak too, And Im looking at this 79 2775,
It run,s good, has about 4600 hrs on clock,
and even the hitch tongue has no wear on the end hole,
The Injector,s seem to be fine , and the interior need,s redone, but that,s trivial<
It has the lug,s for the duall rim,s on back sitting in cab, Also, the steering post wont stay up, and tight,
probably the tightner under the dash is worn,
or just slipping,
Beside,s that, it appear,s to be alright,
& of course the paint need,s TLC, but again , that,s trivial,
Price is 3,500 or best offer,
Please get back to me on this as I value people that like these Massey,s with the Perkin,s V8,s in them,
I drove a couple of these, and they really scream when you put the rev,s up,
K.C,

John, have a 2805 which is close to a 2775. Suspect your main hydraulic pump may be going out or messing up, it powers the 3Pt lift, the power shift, and the PTO engagement. "Could" be a problem in the shift control valve also. On mine the hi and lo work fine but the int position has a whine in it. Was told by a man that worked on these monsters that when the trans starts slipping in Reverse the trany is about to fail. I'd be interested in what you find out, Good Luck with it.

There aren't any strange noises and the trans seems to hold good, doesn't slip. Tractor seems to have good pressure at the remotes. PS just has its own mind on shifting into low. Hope it is just a sticking hyd control or something. I'm used to the PS light flashing sometimes when I shift but hope that is normal. Also, the shift into low seems quite harsh, not moderated like shifts in and out of the higher gears. We used this tractor all winter on my neighbors tub grinder and the PTO held solid at speed. Sometimes grinder would pull it down and almost stall engine but it always came back. I hope I don't have to tear into it. If I do I will post about the experience here. My neighbor is using the rig today so I will ask him later today how he made out.
