I have a 1150 that I just bought runs good but blows what looks to be exhaust out of the over flow. Took Rad hoses off small air bubles from L. head R&R gasket put a used head that I had from a different engine same problem except big bubbles from both heads.Should I tear off the other side? Has anyone ever had a cracked liner that did not leek into the pan. Any help or suggestions would be great. This thing is FRUSTRATING me this time of the year.
Thanks Wyatt

Warm the engine up.Take the radiator hoses off at the thermostat housings on both sides.Make sure the coolant is right at the top of the housing.Loosen the fanbelts so the water pump will not turn. Start the engine and run at an idle and see if you get any bubbles in the thermostat housings. If you do,You have either a bad head gasket or a cracked head on the side that has bubbles. You may have to leave it run a while before it bubbles, but having the engine warm before you start will speed up the bubbles.Bad head gaskets do not always leak until the engine is warmed up.

When you have the heads off have them checked to make sure they are true. They may need machining.
Inspect all sleeves.
Use new gaskets and make sure you have the proper torque on the bolts and they are tightened in the right sequence.
