Hi All,

Just wondering can anyone tell me the locationof the hydraulic filter on the Massey 699 4wd. I think it is on the same side as the foot throttle. ALso is it difficult to change. The lift arms seem to be very slow to drop but the hydraulic is working fine every other way. Anyone any ideas?

The hydraulic strainer is located on the underside of the rear centre housing. You will need to drain the rear end oil, and then remove the triangular shaped plate under the centre housing. I doubt if the strainer is your problem, if the hydraulics are lifting OK. The response control is the most likely culprit, so check that first. There should be a knob located on the R.H.S. as you sit in the saddle, either down by your right ankle or calf. If the knob is in the "Slow" position, turn it to the "Fast" position, to speed up the rate of decent of the arms. If it is turning OK, it may be out of adjustment, so then have a look at where the rod from the control makes it's way down to the R.H.S. side cover on the rear centre housing. There will be an adjustable arm on the side cover, and is adjustable by slackening the phillips head screw, and "turning" the control arm about it's axis. Then tighten the screw, and try again. Trial and error will determine the correct position of the knob and phillips head screw. hope this makes some sense, regards, Evan.
