Can anyone tell me how much is missing from one of these tractors with regard to PTO hardware? Is it just the output shaft? What would be involved in retro-fitting one with all the needed PTO componentry? Thanks!

A lot of the older industrial models that had a hyd. pump installed would have a support in the housing to hold up the rear end of the pump. The support has to be removed and a bushing installed in the housing then the PTO slide gear that engages the PTO with the shaft on the pump. Then you would also need the PTo shift lever, fork and plate for the right side. Then you would need the PTO shaft the needle bearing that goes up in the rear center housing plus the ball bearing, snap ring, seal retainer etc. for the rear. We used to install hydraulics and PTO shafts in the IND. units that were originally manafactured to be used as Loader only or as a Tractor/Loader/Backhoe. It can be expensive and time consuming. If it has working hydraulics, it might mean just the outlet shaft and bearings plus the gear shifting.

But there werenn't any 20s, 30, or 40s from the 70s and 80a. 135 went into the 70s, and 235 later.

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer..... this is the industrial series I'm referring to. You know, the yellow ones. As near as I can tell they were all made in the 70s and 80s, possibly some in the late 60s.

My dad has an old 20C which is very, very similar to a 135 with the 3A-152 Perkins. And I know the 30 has the AD4-203 at around 60HP, which would probably make it very similar to a 70s model 165.

But yeah, to answer your other question the tractor in question, an MF30 industrial from the 70s does have a 3pt hitch, so the hydraulic system is definitely there. I just don't know about the missing PTO parts.

I know nothing about the industrial tractors, but I bet the industrial hydraulic systems are based on an engine driven pump, not a PTO shaft driven pump. Likely 10 to 20 gpm, not 3.6 gpm. If that's the case, the lack of PTO would mean lack of PTO clutch in the flywheel and all the gears, shafts, shifter, and bearings to go around the transmission. All the PTO parts. And if the flywheel wasn't made for the double clutch there would be a need for the flywheel and both clutches too.

If the hydraulic pump is indeed as large as I guess, it just might drive a hydraulic motor with a splined shaft. I believe I've seen such motors in catalogs from Burden's Surplus Center or Baum Hydraulics. Might not have the power of the PTO shaft, but if it had enough power it would be immensely simpler to make work.

Otherwise finding another tractor with PTO may be easier than finding the parts.
