I have an MF3080 with Autotronic that gives problems with starting, usually after damp, wet weather. When depressing the clutch pedal 2 lights should come on on the dash - if these do not come on the only way to start the tractor is to hot wire the solenoid. Usually after some time the lights then come on the dash and everything works correctly. I have checked power supply (richard in nz some time ago - thanks) and earth to the Autotronic box, all connectors and all appear OK. Any ideas? it's driving me nuts! Thanks

Having had a bit to do with the Autotronic models over the years, I can suggest to you, the simple things to check first. 1 Are the batteries in good order? (the computer needs a minimum of 12.5 volts to activate from sleep mode).
2 Are all connections on the batteries clean and corrosion free?
3 Have the braided earth straps on the batteries, been replaced with copper core leads?
4 Check the mounting points where the earth strap linking the cab frame to the tractor chassis bolts down.
5 Has the clutch safety switch been checked out for a fault. (a bridge wire across the two terminals will indicate a bad connection with-in the switch, if lights come on, and machine starts). Most of the problems with the autotronic systems on these tractors, stems from poor battery voltage and, or, bad earths.(As a previous blogger has indicated to you). Check these simple things first, and satisfy yourself that they are ok. Once the simple things have been taken care of, we can then get onto the harder to fix items from there, let me know what you find. regards for now, Evan.

Thanks Evan, I also am in Autralia (SA). I think that I have found the problem - I traced the wire from the clutch safety switch to a nine pin connecter under the bonnet above the engine that was not quite together properly - I hope! Thanks for your input, Bill

Good Bill, hope the problem lies with the connector too, regards, Evan.
