I took off the other day in 4th gear and had the pto engauged by mistake into ground speed(must have bumped it with my leg). I had a winch attached to the pto and it was up all the way on the 3pt hitch. This puts quite an angle on the drive shaft of the winch. I heard a snap and the driveshaft broke apart at the yoke. Now when i drive the tractor in 4th gear(pto not engauged) i hear a snapping sound under the seat. The pto still works good and it does not make the sound in any other gear. Does anyone know what this could be?

Pull off the lift cover and check things out.
Sounds to me like you bent the PTO drive shaft, better to fix it before you damage something else.
Be tractor safe.

The tractor is a 1976 135 diesel with ground speed.
