My 1998 MF231 with only 134 hours has a power steering issue. The power steering works fine turning right but doesn't work turning left. I have read something about pins on a turnbuckle at the selector valve may need adjusting. If this is the case where do I look? Jim Frazier (Greensboro, NC)

Hi Jim, The 231 power steering is a different
style than addressed on the forum. I would call
a dealer and ask him to pull up service bulletins
regarding this situation. With only 134 hours on
the tractor it should be easily traceable. Chuck

Thanks for the reply Chuck. I called the MF dealer where I purchased the tractor new in 1998. I spoke to a mechanic who was no help. He either played dumb or really has no idea what the problem is.....Jim Frazier

Hi All,

Well, my 231 is fixed! A friend (retired mechanic) removed the U-shaped sheet metal that covers the battery, instrument wiring, etc. He tinkered with some power steering adjustments on the steering column. To make a long story short, there were no parts needed, only a little power steering fluid.
