Did what you recommended. I believe it is right now.

The tie rod end had to be screwed in to match the others then adjusted per your instructions.

I really appreciate your help Brian.

Thanks, Greg

Hi Greg
Have you road tested the tractor?
I am glad someone from this site could help you.

Now you can celebrate with your beverage of choice, but remember don't drink and drive.

Take a picture of your tractor and post it.
We always like to see tractors, pretty, or in their work clothes.

Be tractor safe.
Regards
Brian

Brian,

I road tested it just enough to tell it really improved the steering. Ive got a blown head gasket or something- burping through the radiator and now antifreeze in the oil.

This tractor is rough. I bought it 2 weeks ago. No filters had been changed in years. The oil bath was so clogged the side had been sucked in at a seam. A valve cover leak had it filthy. An 82 year old man had it and had used it very little the past few years. He had smeared paint on it (looks like barn paint).

The good news is that the lift and pto seem ok, same as new tires on the back and the multipower is good. It has always been kept inside.

I have cleaned it up and fixed a few minor things. In the near future I plan take it to get the motor rebuilt and it painted.

This tractor is the one my dad bought new in 1964 (I was 3 years old). His farm and equipment auctioned in 1983 (bad years for feeder steers). It was the only tractor on a 160 acre beef, silage/corn, tobacco and even up to 7 acres of bell peppers. I have ridden this tractor many hours.

It is a keeper.

I also have 3 MF135s -2 diesels, 1 gas(all with power steering- I remember now why I want power steering).
The 135s are in good to excellent condition. I just play on a 42 acre hill farm but have a thing for little red tractors.

Thanks again for your help.

Greg

Hi Greg
The bubbles in the rad are either a blown head gasket, or a cracked cylinder head. Don't run the tractor any more until repaired as it will destroy the rings.
Be tractor safe.
Brian
