MH333 died on me.

Hi there, my dad has a MH 333 diesel and it quit on us last summer. It sat in the field for about a month and when he went to start it it fired up....made a whining sound.....then froze up. I am wondering if this is most likely a crank bearing? Or something in the gear train to the hydraulic pump? Any insight would be appreciated.

It is sitting in the barn right now, I am debating whether to tear into the engine or send it out to be fixed. How hard is it to get everything timed correctly once I have torn it down? IE cam gear and injector pump timing?
