I have a MF 40 that I purhcase last year and had no problems shifting into or out of any gear until I put it in the barn for the winter. I did not use it this winter ( Indiana ) and upon firing it up this spring, it will not go into any gear without grinding and forcing it in and once in gear, pushing the clutch in will not stop it from moving either forward or reverse ( depending on which gear it is in )... I did check the oil level on the dipstick below the seat and although it is low, I don't know if it is low enough to cause problems.. It has a loader on the front that operates fine but it too will not disengage when pushing the clutch all the way down.. I have not owned or operated the tractor long enough too get a feel for the clutch pedal characteristics and any changes since last year other than I do remember both stages working ok.. Any suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated.

the clutch is stuck , rusted to the fly wheel . rev the engine and hold the clutch pedal in and hold the brakes down . you may have to do this more than once . then pop the clutch by letting the pedal up by just removing your foot . also you can get the tractor moving push the clutch pedal in and push the brakes very hard . good luck
