I'm back with another Massey Ferguson question. I have found a 150 that was used by an apple operation. Needs a lot of TLC. The plate that the drawbar attaches too is no longer bolted on by the proper bolts because "this was a problem with Massey Ferguson". The bolt holes are stripped. Is it too big a problem to try and fix this? There is hydraulic fluid all over the pto area and under the rear.
There are many other small problems and the sheet metal is not beautiful. The seller is asking $3000. Is this fair? Is this tractor strong enough to run a haybine?
The serial number is 9A27114. The site says its a '75. Does any one know more? What type of PTO does it have?
Should I get involved?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Re: repairing the stripped bolts
Check with any hardware supply (Industrial)
They will have a product called "easelocks".
Basically you tap to a bigger size and put these plugs in. You will need to know the bolt size; which should be 7/16 NC (but check to make sure). This is a better idea than helicoils as they provide a leak free fix. If you have a company called Fastenal nearby they will either have them or can order them for you.
Post back

Brian,
Thanks for the advice. I still have to meet with the owner and work out the price. Thought I would get more feedback. I don't love helicoils, so I will do it your way if we are meant to be.
Brian
