I was talking to this guy with an 2775, and he said everything on it was ok,
except that it burned oil a little bit,
I was thinking of going to look at it but it was clear across the state of kansas, so i didnt do it,
could that be rings,??
I wonder about that??

WELL I HAD A 2745 FOR A FEW YEARS, NICE TRACTOR, BUT THERE IS ONE WEAK LINK, 24SP TRANNY, I SPEND SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS ON THIS ONE, AND STILL HAD TO PUT A FEW USED PARTS IN IT.SOME OF THE PARTS ARE HARD TO GET AND MAYBE YOU CAN'T GET THEM.IF WAS AN 8SP , I WOULD SAY GO FOR IT, 24SP WALK AWAY.

How many hours? It could be rings. It could be a valve seal allowing oil into the combustion chamber. My guess without seeing it, is that its rings. Check for blowby on the right side coming from the 3/4 inch breather tube.

Hi Dave,
I just got your emali,
I dont know how many hrs is on tractor,
I called the guy that has it ,
He's up in northeast ks St Jo Mo,
Im over in alton about 250 miles away, So i couldnt go and drive it or look at it,
But i think the guy said about 5'500 hrs on it,
It looks good and is in good cond too but with that little problem?
I dont hink Id want to mess with it, and id rather get one thats in better cond mechanically,
I like the 2000 series alot ,
I want to get one that has good A/C in it and good hoses,
Ive seen alot of then in shabby cond Dave,
I mean its like people dont realize what this tractor is, and go on someone else's remark's instead of driving the tractor itself and finding out what a stud these things are,
Dave, is there a good place to get parts for these Massey's,
I mean the window struts and other little misc things?
Mannn,,, the more I see these thing's, the more i just want one just to drive around and have fun with and job it out in peoples fields,
Dave, this one i was teloing you about was going for 5000,00, and its tempting to go get it, but then again,,, I dont feel like popping the head's off, and seeing if it is the ring's,
Or some other kind of blowby??

For the money, it might be worth a look. Like I said before, the 24 speeds are fine if they have been treated properly. Ours have been absolutely flawless. If you get the 3% rear tire slip as the books suggest, you will have years of good luck. Put em on a dirt pan or weight them down with no slip, then you are asking for troubles. For that price, 250 miles is nothing for something you want. Your only out a day and some gas money if nothing else.
