I just got a "new" Massey 35 yesterday, with a superior loader,2 buckets, rear blade, tire chains, new rubber and a new clutch.
Everything works GREAT with the exception of the rear lift. It refuses to respond to the lift control. (It has the second draft thing too, no combination of positions seems to work) The Lift does raise when the engine is running and lowers when the engine stops....I am sure someone knows how I can fix this....I'd appreciate the help if I could..Thanks and happy new year, Gray

You may not have anything wrong... check your lift lever and move it from "constant pumping" to up or down. With your superior loader it is probably in "constant pumping" position for the loader to work. On most "35" people tie into the main hydraulics for both loader and 3pt. You can only run one device at a time that way.

If all else fails call the original owner...

nope...loader has separate pump..up front and doesn't seem to matter where I put the lift lever. I spoke to a friend who is a tractor mechanic and he feels that the linkage may well have come loose internally, as soon as the weather warms up and I get time I will drain the fluid, open the access port and take a look to see that the control lever is actuating the valves properly... really should have something other than 90 weight oil in there at sub-zero temps anyhow. As for contacting the original owner...it'd be nice but he is dead....that's how I ended up with this baby...sorry to say...Thanks, Gray

There is a tremendous amount of information in the 'Ford 9N, 8N & 2N' forum about repairing lifts, common problems and how they work. Since the MF and Ford models are kissing cousins the repair should be similar and maybe identical.

I also have a 35 and have no idea how the draft control works. I have been told that it has something to do with keeping the plow in the ground at the correct depth. From one extreme to the other the draft control on my 35 seems to slightly slow the raising and lowering of the lift with a bush hog attached. From what I have read in the other forum and observed on the tractor the lift should not fall immediately when the motor is turned off but should remain in position and gradually leak down in 20 minutes to an hour.

Maybe with a loader the hydraulics are diverted for other use.

Thanks.
