Hi guys,
My father bought this tractor at a good price, but noticed that there are some things that don't look quite right. One thing is that the alternator sticks way out from under the hood of the tractor on the right side. Is this normal? The other thing is the throttle control. It has springs hooked up in a couple different places to it and when you try to throttle it up the throttle will not stay unless you hold it. It appears that the throttle is hooked directly to the govenor. Is this correct or is this a modification made by someone? Also I think the year is a 1978. Could an older motor have been put on it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you only knew how the throttle is susposted to be configured... If you could go to a MF dealer they could show you the illustration in their parts catalog. There is a cork disk used in the throttle linkage for "friction", it is loaded against a metal disk and that cork disk may need to be replaced also. The spring can be loaded tighter against the metal disk by loosening the lock clamp and pressing clamp towards disk.
