Jim, i can tell you from experience that to harvest the camellina you will need the grass screens. i cut some last year and could not get the fan/seive set to blow out the hulls. The 410 works great for canola and i would think it would be fine for sunflowers but that camellina is a bugger!!

Ok - being a new combine operator what do the grass screens do and where do they go? Also what else can you tell me about Camelina and your experince with it? I just got in 90 lbs of seed today.

Thanks

We have two, both diesels. One a two sieve rice machine and one a three sieve conventenal. Both work very well with the two sieve being a little easier to set. very easy on fuel and we have very wide tires on one and have never had it stuck. Have cut in same field as 4wd 7700 john deere and left less tracks. We run a 15 ft platform and it handles it fairly well. More capacity than a 4400 JD gas.

We had one for years, actually it is still here, only in the back 40's after a fire.I don't know too many specs right off,but they have 3 sets of sives,as do all the massey's of that era.The drum and sives are 36"wide.They are comparable in size to a 4400 Deere?Anyway I know the 510's are 45"wide and are comparable to a 6600 Deere. The one we used to run had a 292 I6 Chevy engine ,purred like a kitten and drank like a sailor. If the one you are referring to is a diesel,it will run as cheap or cheaper than anything you will find. The gas tank holds about 30 gallon(I think) and would only cut 30 acres of barley with nearly 3'tall straw. The 550 we run now(newer version of 510)will cut over 60 acres on that amount of diesel. All in all, they do a good job,cut a reasonable amount in a day for the price of them, and are pretty simple to work on.I have never used one for anything else than barley and oats,so can't help you on the other crops.Good luck,pd.
