I've been having trouble on my 1030. All of a sudden it started overheating. Flushed radiator, Disassemble water pump, flushed block, replaced radiator cap. Same problem. It will run for a while then start to overheat. When I turn it off it shoots water out the radiator overflow like a steam engine. At first I thought it may be the radiator, It was leaking and I had it fixed, they had to crimp off a few lines, maybe that started the whole thing, not enough capacity now.
Real problem now. I started it up after the winter and NOW I have water pouring out the oil fill. I pulled the valve cover off and the first thing I noticed was two small disk/plugs laying loose. They look like freeze plugs in a car engine but smaller. I can see the holes they are supposed to fit in. ARE thesefreeze plugs??
Where do I get new ones and can I just re-install them. Really need advice here!!

Thanks
Ray

Core plugs are known as freeze plugs. You need new ones. You also need a thermostat. Its sticking closed.

Thanks Gerald J

Now I just need to track down where to order them from. One of the plugs I can drive back in but the other one is located under the Valve spring/rocker assembly. I don't know if I can get a clear shot or will need to pull the rocker off. Any good source of parts for these item's that you know of.

Thanks
Ray

Its not hard to take the rocker arm assembly off. Or to put it back. Keep the push rods in the same place, then set the valves according to the manual.

The "freeze" plugs ought to be available a NAPA (take the old ones with you) or a MF tractor dealer.
