fan belt on MF40 forklift, or takeapart belt??

I need to replace the fan belt on my MF 40 forklift with a 3 cyl Perkins diesel, but the pump shaft that bolts to the crankshaft pulley will not slide back far enough to get a belt in between. I thought about trying to take the pump loose, but it is between the radiator and a giant counter weight, so I can not even see it. I remember seeing those takeapart belts, but do not know where to get one. Can anyone help me either for the correct installation or finding a belt. Thanks for any help you can give!!

Thanks for all the help. I found a local supplier that handles the Power Twist belts. They are $4.19/ft. For a little less than $20 I solved my problem and it works fine. Thanks again!!

i can't help much with the forklift , but on my 32 industrial loader when i replaced the fan belt i put 2 in there and tied one of the belts out of the way . that way if the belt breaks all you have to do is untie the 2nd belt and put it on without having to remove all that stuff

I believe you are treating the hub and shaft as
one unit. They are seperate. The shaft is threaded into the hub and they must be separated.
This is where the LH threads come in. And the
pump usually has to be loosened to allow the shaft room to come back. I don't currently have
a manual. Chuck

My pump drive shaft is bolted to the crank pulley with 3 3/8 bolts. I removed these bolts and the pump drive shaft will only move back about 1/4" away from the crank pulley. I thought it should move far enough to get a belt between the crank pulley and the hub on the pump drive. Maybe my previous post was not clear enough. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The driveshaft turns into the hub on crankshaft
pulley with LH threads. It is usually tight and
there is a tool to help. You would need to see
an MF dealer for that tool. I don't know if you
could get at it with anything else. We made a tool out of a junk pump. Welded a large bolt to
the junk pump shaft. Then turn out using the hex
on that large bolt. Chuck
