Just got my 1150 to the shop to fix leaking rear main seal and slipping Multi-Power. I opened the clutch pack and found one good friction disc, two bad ones and two that had completely lost their surfaces. Few of the small springs that push the clutch open were in bits and pieces, wonder what caused that??
Friction discs have left some notches to the gear they drive so I guess that needs to be replaced. And I guess it is wise to put all new sealing rings there too?
Would like to hear if there is something to look for, never done MP overhaul before!

I always replace all seals, rings, plates discs& springs when I do a 1100 series MP.I would also replace the gear with the notches worn in it.The MP is a very dependable system when repaired correctly. Harlan

Thanks for the opinion. Another question: I noticed today that those little release springs didn't have roller/needle in them like the parts book suggests. Also my AGCO dealer cant get those needles so are they necessary?

Personally check with the local MF dealer and the pins and springs ARE available.

Hello.
Is it possible that the tractor has been left in 'Low' MP for a very long time whilst working.
Although the clutch pack is almost immersed in oil it is possible for the plates to overheat as they are spinning against the driving plates in 'Low'.
Is there any indication around the clutch housing of overheating eg blueness of the metal?

I don't know the history of this tractor, I've had it for two years and the MP didn't work when I got it. Clutch housing and plates are not blue, but the gear that goes inside the plates is a bit blue at one end.
The clutch plates looked like the friction material was torn off rather than worn out. Might be that those little pieces of those springs got between the discs and caused that?
