Our tired 175 has gotten some water in the hyd. oil. I am going to change the fluid and filter, but are there any other steps I should take? The lift works fine but slow and I have all ideas that the filter has never been changed. Also, it will not come out of low multi power. I have adjusted the rod where it comes out of the trans. a little, but not very much since I don"t have much experience working on these transmissions. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Check the front of the engine carefully. Stationary motors have a different crakshaft and harmonic balancer. Is the crankshaft the same between the tractor and the harvestor?

I'm afraid that I can't help much with the hydraulics. Fortunately have not had to work on the hydraulics on our 175.

You can't hurt too much by moving that multi power linkage around. Try a few different settings and see if you find a good one. It is a bit of a touchy thing to get set just right.
As for the engine, unless the block is broken I would rebuild it every time. The 236 is a good engine (although ours is hard starting in the cold) that is easy and not too expensive to rebuild. Once rebuilt you know that you have an engine that is good for another 6,000 plus hours.

I'd go ahead and take the free engines, I just wouldn't try putting them in my 175.

Good Day,

JP.

A rebuilt 236 should last a lot longer than 6000 hours. With proper maintenance and use should go at least double that. Dave

I"d have to check to make sure, but I think it"s the 236 ci diesel.

I'm planning on rebuilding the engine in this tractor, but I've been offered a free engine out of a 410 combine and possibly a 300. Will they work? If they will, it will save a lot of time and expense.
