Hi all. A friend of mine owns a Massey 135 that is showing possible clutch failure. It won't go into gear unless you shut it off and slips once you start it up. The pedal needs much less force to push it down and has much less travel. I'm no stranger to clutch repair (spent 20 years + in automotive transmission shops)but I keep hearing of a split torque design that may or may not be in this tractor. Are there any numbers that can tell me what type of clutch this has in it and can anyone tell me the function of the slit torque clutch. Thanks, Wally

The clutch you are talking about is used on ipto.A duel clutch is used on live pto and single disk clutch is used on the tractors that don't have ipto or live. not sure if the 135 had the basic single clutch. Pull it apart and fix whats wrong. david

Thanks for the replies folks.
And thank you David, we intend to pull it apart as soon as we pull it out of the snow bank(Har Har)
I'll let you know what we find.
Thanks again, Wally

Are you talking about multi-power? It would have a lever on the dash but it does sound like the clutch needs adjusting or replacing. Dave
