I have a 1968 MF-135 diesel tractor with lift problems. The tractor has not been run since last fall when everything worked. Cranked the tractor a couple of days ago and the lift would not pick up a bush hog but a few inches. Lift will operate full range without load. Have changed filter but still have problem. Any ideas of what the trouble may be and where to look next?

what type oil did you put in tractor when you changed filter?

could have an air bubble or pocket in system. I assume you drained oil and replaced with new oil when you changed filter.

Have heard of this, but do not know how to get air pocket out of system if thats the problem.

In times pasted I would say its the oil if you did not install the recommended MF oil, however, I have heard of others using motor oil in systems and they say it works fine.

good luck,

Hi, the control valve may be sticking. Drain the oil to the level of the bottom bolt on the RH side cover and remove it. Operate the levers and observe the operation of the lever at the rear of the pump. When you try to fully raise the implement the lever should move rearwards fully and return to the middle or neutral position at full lift. When you lower, the pump lever should move forward to the discharge position. If you do not have this operation you will not lift anything.
The oil supply system is designed for the oil to enter the pump filter by gravity and suction. If the filter is well blocked it may be unable to enter by eother way. The filter can be accessed through the LH side cover.
