I have a MF 245. After one winter not shedded, I checked the hydralic fluid in the spring and found it milky. Operating the 3 point was also jerky and weak. I attributed this to the water in the fluid. However, after changing the fluid with new J. D. HYGARD fluid and changing the filter, the 3 point will not raise at all unless I cycle the aux control valves. Then it only comes up sometimes and very slowly. What's up? Is there a safe way to flush the hydralic system?

DIESEL WORKS GREAT TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. I WOULD PUT ABOUT FIVE GALLONS IN SYSTEM AND START THE TRACTOR AND RUN IT FOR A FEW MINIUTES AND THEN DRAIN IT. ONE THING I WOULD SUGESST IS THAT YOU CHECK THE SHIFT LEVER RUBBER BOOTS. IF THEY ARE CRACKED OR CUT WATER WILL RUN IN AROUND THE LEVERS INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND HYDRAULIC SYSETM. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PLACE FOR WATER TO ENTER THE SYSTEM. YOU CAN BUY NEW SHIFT LEVER BOOTS FOR ABOUT EIGHT DOLLARS. GOOD LUCK LANCE.
