Hello guys !

My question is the following: Working in the wood, I use chain saw, electrical chain saw, and several tools using electricity 220 v (here in BELGIUM) Does it exist a generator to connect to my tractor in order to produce the electrical power I need for my different tools ? Thanks for giving me a right idea to get such device.

JJ

Maybe I'm all wet here, but is your power 220 volts DC in Belgium?

Eh YES 220 Volt DC 50 hz here in BELGIUM and all Europe, except UK if I am not wrong. For this reason we need to pay attention setting our electric devices; dubble voltage.

Thanks anyway JJ

I'm in Canada, running most everything on 110v, so this may or may not work for you. But. For what you want to do, i'd try to pick up a 6.5kw generator...it should more than power what you need. We have one at work, and it only starts to load down with a portable compressor, circular saw and pair of drills. Around here, a generator like that would run you somewhere around $750-$850.

I'm looking into a PTO generator for my Super-C, but I'd like to use it to power the house when we lose electricity. For that, I'm looking to get around 12kw...new, they'll be running $1500-$1800. I found a used one, 15kw, for $700 though. I'm not sure whats available in your area, though.

Hope this is of some help,

AR

If you go into eBay.com and key in "pto generator" to the search engine you will find several listed. They will give you an idea of what you are looking for and the kind of price involved. I use a 3Kw petrol generator slung into the bucket on the back along with all the tools. Much cheaper - does the job. Regards Chas

You should be able to get a PTO generator, but they aren't too cheap. Dave

Hi DAVE,

thanks, could you give me an idea for finding one...
Where to check ? Do I need to buy a new one or Do I need to find an old timer like my MF 165 ? What is the curernt price for such material ? Because I need to plan buy one, pretty soon.
Thanks JJ

A regular generator with it's own engine would be cheaper unless you're using large amounts of power. Good PTO generators are probably at least a couple thousand dollars and more. If you found a used one would work. A good Honda or Robin type generator would use less fuel and be cheaper than a PTO generator. Dave

Good point,

But I thought about this system, because I noticed my MF is often running while I am working beside so... But like you said the generator specialy made for that should be cheaper than a PTO one.

Thanks DAVE

No problem. It's not a good idea to leave your tractor idling for longer than 5 minutes or so. It will start to smoke and run poorly. It needs to be worked to clear it up. Wastes fuel too. Dave
