All winter long My MF 65 diesel has been hard to start. I can understand having to use starting fluid in the air intake when the air temperature is cold, now I have to use starting fluid even when the tractor is kept in a heated greenhouse. Perhaps it is the fuel filters? Should I be using a fuel additive? Can anyone out there please advise?

If you by starting fluid means this bad smelling stuff on spray cans, they cause the piston ring groves to widen, and then the engine loose compression, and you have to use starting fluid even on warm summer days.

In my opinion, starting fluid is the easiest way to ruin a healthy engine.

Hello,
Have you checked the operation of the thermostart?
This device is mounted in the inlet manifold and has a wire and one pipe going to it. Turn the key to the heat position and put your hand on the area of the manifold around the thermostart. If it is working you should feel the metal warm a little. If you have a volt meter or are able to connect a 12V bulb to the wire that will tell you that you at least have current going to it. After the engine has been working remove the thermostart and examine the coil inside. If there is any evidence of it being 'wet' with diesel, it is faulty. When you disconnect the pipe about an egg-cup full of diesel will run out. If you do not have current going to the thermostart you will need to check back up the line to the fuse and key switch.
