Need help finding out what model Massey I have. I purchased an industrial loader with a Ford backhoe attached. The tractor is in great shape and runs perfect. It has a Perkins Diesel "AD4 203". Problem is the Hydrostatic is leaking. I would like to purchase a manual before riping apart. The serial number is "9A 152900". Can't find any information on this guy. HELP !

I have just purchesed a Massey Ferguson MF 40 Industrial loader 1976 SN 9A2b1117; loader MF34A SN 2206000418; Rear tires: 18.4 - 24 10pr Fronts: 11L - 15SL 8pr (solid).
Same perkins engine, perhaps the same problem if the "hydrostatic" you are referring to is the steering system. Turns to the right fine, goes to lock and resists; left turn requires high RPM and lots of turning of the steering wheel. When driving on the road (carefully!) you need to slowly turn continuously to the left in order to keep going straight.
I think the problem will be in the valve at the end of the steering column, but there are lots of other leakages so I have just pressure washed the whole machine to try to identify the various problems. I am also looking for manuals; the local dealer thinks they can be found, although we are still checking to see if I have a MF-40 or an MF-40B. I'll post if I find them.

Great Perkins 53 PTO HP engine your have, about 1973, same as a MF 165, except lower profile (not row crop style).

I have new original Massey Ferguson manuals for $59. each (about 1000 pages total).

Jim, there is a serial number link on the left of this page. It shows that serial number could be a 1973 "135 " The numbers for that year start at "9A 152025 " Don't know if this applys to industrial models or not.
