I am looking for the color schemes for an MH-50 we are restoring,i.e. sheet metal, grille, chassis, components, wheels, etc, Can anyone point me to this type of resource or send me an email with the data?? I searched the forum but found nothing in this topic.

Thanks.

Hi Phil,

I believe you are correct with the grille color being bronze. The MH's came out with the bronze belly in 1956 being the same color as the triple series tractors (including the grille). When they changed to MF and eliminated the dishes on the sides of the hood then the belly color and grille went to the silver look. Lots of MH were repainted silver to make them look more "modern". Just my take.

I have a 1956 MH 50 Utility and 1956 MH 50 High Arch and both are bronze bellied. And the paint color is the same as my 333 and original 444.

Hope this helps a little.

Gary

Gary,

Thanks. You just may have cleared up the "silver" mystery for all of us. Interesting twists and turns on this color chronology for the MH 50.
Appreciate you answering this conumdrum.

Thank you very much for this website. This will give me the paint I need, but not sure where to apply it on the tractor. Is there a source for that or pictures of an sccurately restored MH50 I could see the application of the paints. Also, not sure which red or which yellow or which bronze was used on the 50. Is that data around somewhere?

Ferguson must have gotten a deal on some paint or bought a paint company going out of business.

They changes colors a number of time 1955-1958, then this one with the frame painted gold.

Tractor looks good, but I have never seen one with the frame painted that color.

Sincerely,

You must be blindfolded when you go to tractor shows. Very stupid comment.

I don't think this is a stupid comment as MH did change the colors on the MH50 I am told by the expert community. Gold was the original color, but people did not like it as the story unfolds and so MH changed to a bronze color somewhere along the line and may even have tweaked that.

Hello Joe,

Thanks much for the picture. Would you have other views of that tractor so I can see the paint scheme everywhere?
Is the grill work bronze or silver? hard to tell from pic but assume bronze. The rear rims appear to be silver in color and I presume that is representing the zinc plated original rims?
Thanks for your patience, just trying to get it as accurate as possible.

It is a 1957 model

Same colors as it has when new and unloaded from the dealer truck at our farm may 1957.

I was 11 and my father allowed me to be the first to drive it to the garage.

Joe, these pictures have been a terrific aid in the color scheme. Thanks very much.
One question remains, and that is: Are the front grille doors silver as it seems in the picture or are they bronze like the rest of the chassis. Hard to tell sometimes with the lighting.
Appreciate your help.

Hi Phil

The grill color is silver

The only thing I"m not sure is the black seat cushion and back rest on the photo I remember some were grey on the standard pan seat.

Good luck with your project Hope you will post a pic when finished

Joe, thanks for responding with the grille color.

Now, the confusing part is that all the color literature I just found shows the grille to be the same color, gold/bronze, as the chassis!! The grille on our tractor shows signs of being silver once upon a time, but it appears it has been painted red over the silver. The MH experts now tell me it should be bronze and yet your tractor from the dealer new was silver. What a conumdrum. And I now understand that MH changed the original gold to a more bronze somewhere along the production line as it is reputed to have been more acceptable than the "gold" look.
Will let you know what we decide with a pic in the future.
Appreciate your help and info.
